Cirilo Manego III

Cirilo Manego III is the Founder and Principal at The Manego Group, a multidisciplinary consulting firm that connects the dots for their clients through innovative measures married with years of conventional strategy and tactics. In addition, Cirilo is the Chief Strategic Partnership and Advocacy Officer for Black With No Chaser, a multimedia company with a reach of 15-20 million people per month worldwide. By serving as Public Engagement Director on two national bus tours to save the Affordable Care Act, which spun off into Health Care Voter – a campaign designed to educate constituencies regarding their members’ votes on health care but more importantly maintain health care as a human right, Cirilo has had the privilege of engaging in some of the most passionate organizers across the country.

In addition to his advocacy efforts, he has poured countless hours into developing pipelines for students attending Historical Black Colleges and Universities by standing up internship and fellowship programs in over dozen states. As a graduate of an HBCU and former Division-I AA athlete of Florida A & M University, he could not be prouder to represent his alma mater as an advocate for HBCU engagement in the progressive space. Go Rattlers!

Cirilo’s journey in Washington, D.C., however, did not begin on a bus; it began on Capitol Hill where he cut his teeth on policy serving in the House Committee on Homeland Security under the current Chairman Bennie Thompson. Accordingly, Cirilo continues utilize and leverage those acquired skills and contacts to build out TMG’s government arm of the consulting firm. Currently, he consults with clients dealing in homeland security and energy issues. After the Hill, he spent some time working on criminal justice and civil rights issues as a Fellow with the National Urban League Washington Bureau before arriving at The Hub Project.

Steeped in his desire to effectuate change for marginalized groups, Cirilo feels his role with BWNC is God sent. Since joining BWNC in 2017 comprised of passionate, dedicated, and brave people, BWNC has grown exponentially. Accordingly, BWNC has found itself collaborating and partnering with campaigns such as Buried Alive, Black Mama Bail Out, Mississippi Bail Fund, immigration advocacy groups and much more. At its core, BWNC is comprised of black documentarians documenting the black experience for the empowerment of black people and through the empowerment of black people. In short, our mission is to always THINK BLACK. LIVE BLACK. UNAPOLOGETICALLY.

Beyond advocacy, Cirilo spends his time cooking and chilling. If he’s not whipping up some creole inspired cuisine, he’s on the grill and chilling. Just recently, he partnered with a longtime friend from college to form Tumpe Tastings where he gets to channel his passion to feed people and build community. Other than that, he’s probably playing flag football or being the best uncle, ever. While he misses his hometown of New Orleans, LA., he finds solace in NoMa D.C. with his partner Umarah and J.B. (a miniature schnauzer).
